Debut Album Release: "English Songs à la française"

“A beautiful variety of peaceful music that makes us pause in this whirly world of nowadays.”  - Elly Ameling

After over 25 years of collaboration, the duo have released their debut album, "English Songs à la française," on October 16th, 2020. As the title suggests, the album showcases a collection of songs by masters of French mélodie, but this time, in a rarely heard form: setting English verse. The well-loved sounds of Hahn, Gounod, Ravel, Saint-Säens, and many others emerge in a new light, reinvented by the words of poetic giants ilke Longfellow, Byron and Tennyson. In this expertly curated record, Duncan and Switzer uncover a new world of enchanting and lyrical repertoire, including world-premiere recordings of Darius Milhaud’s complete Child poems, op. 36 and liner notes by the acclaimed French baritone, François Le Roux.
